Here's how it all began...
In the fall of 2021, life as I knew it came crashing down, and I became a divorced single mama in my late twenties.
As I started to rebuild my life, I realized I had placed almost all of my value in the titles I had - wife, mama, business owner...but if those roles were to be taken away, I had no idea who I was on my own.
However - everything changed the following summer, when a good friend introduced me to the world of power tools. I was building things that took simple pieces of wood - rough and raw, and turned them into something beautiful! It not only filled my creative needs, but taught me many life lessons too...and in the process, I found me again!
The BuildHER Workbench...
In the fall of 2022, I created my first workshop! The goal - build a work bench, but make it cute...and this is where the name started.
This BuildHER sign was originally a personal reminder to myself to be an example to HER... my sweet little girl. It was a visual representation of my desire to show her that women are strong and capable...and if you work hard, are willing to make mistakes, and never give up on yourself ...you can create anything you want!
A bigger mission...
Over the next year I began speaking openly on social media about overcoming an abusive marriage, my experience as a young single mother and eventually my journey of finding love (and marriage) again.
The result - women were overflowing my inbox. Many of these messages were from women I KNEW who were walking through situations similar to my past, but didn’t feel safe or comfortable to speak out about it.
That’s when the bigger BuildHER dream began ....the mission to elevate and empower women everywhere through photography and design.
The rebrand...
So, in the spring of 2024 I did a complete rebrand of the photography + design business I had owned for the previous decade and created a space for women to fully embrace who they are and celebrate what they bring to this world.
The mission of The BuildHER Co. is to elevate women’s voices and businesses, and empower women of all ages to create a life and/or brand that lives out their authentic self!
I am so incredibly honored to do this work, and can’t wait to meet you as we work to create something beautiful together!
Where we are now...
Since our rebrand, The BuildHER Co. has grown into a trusted partner for women-owned businesses across the country.
We’ve had the honor of serving clients in 16 states (and counting!) - with many of these states being home to multiple BuildHER brands who continue to trust us with their products and stories.
Each marker on the map represents more than just a project — it’s a community of women entrepreneurs building their dreams with confidence, and we’re proud to be part of that journey.
